Values

The philosophy of Le Pain Quotidien is to provide good value, high quality organic produce in a convivial rustic setting. We believe in a return to simplicity, sustainability and community, and try and push these values through everything we do.

Le Pain Quotidien was established in the early 1990’s in Brussels by chef Alain Coumont. The combination of culinary excellence and unique atmosphere has proved amazingly successful. From Belgium we have expanded to Paris, New York, and Los Angeles. Le Pain Quotidien is now open in more than 10 countries worldwide – word is spreading!

Although not all of our products are yet organic (we plan full certification in 2008), all our bread, wines, coffee & tea, milks and butter, charcuterie, soups, chocolates and many many more items on our menus and in our retail areas are. We see organic food as the future for responsible and ethical production and purchasing. All our products are fully traceable and if not organic are produced under the highest standards of animal husbandry, farming practice and wholesale production. We also look to source all products local where ever possible.

All the wooden furniture you find in the Le Pain Quotidien stores are made from reclaimed or reused sources (normally railway carriages!) We use packaging and disposable products from sustainable or recycled sources where ever possible, and of course try to maximize what we recycle ourselves.

We strive every day to live and work better in the world we all share. Our values are not for compromise, they are our essence, our daily bread, our pain quotidien.

Le Pain Quotidien is an international company.
