Here at LPQ, our team members are not just important – they are the most important part of our restaurants.  From hosts to chefs, from waiters to managers, each and every one of them plays a huge part in creating the best possible LPQ experience.

In a new online series, we sit down with different LPQ team members to find out what they love about their job, what food makes their stomachs growl and exactly what makes them tick.

We start with Barbara, our smiley supervisor at Exhibition Road.

Hi Barbara.  How long have you been working with us?

Just over a year – 1 year and 2 months to be precise!

What made you want to come work for LPQ?

I had always been a loyal customer and I saw that there was potential to grow with LPQ.

Which is your favourite LPQ dish?

I loved the warm duck salad that we had as a seasonal special in the spring.  Now I love our Confit Duck dish.  Oh and the Spiced Lamb Meatballs and Chocolate Fondant all of which are on our new evening menu.

What is the one LPQ dessert you couldn’t live without?

Definitely the cheesecake, without hesitation!

In which of the 19 countries LPQ is based would you most like to visit?

I follow most of the different LPQs on Instagram and my favourites are Brazil and India, so I’d love to go check those out.

What is your favourite thing about working in London?

I like to work in London because, coming from Madrid, I like busy places and big cities.  There are so many opportunities. Plus, you can travel to so many different places from London.

What do you love about your local store’s area?

The best thing about Exhibition Road is that you can go to a lot of museums. We have the Victoria and Albert Museum and the National History Museum. It is also easy to get to Fulham from here. Hyde Park is close too.

Other than your own store, which LPQ is your favourite and why?

I like our Chiswick branch. It is a small building and there is a huge terrace, so it is perfect when it’s sunny – very relaxing.

What are the best three words you can use to describe LPQ?

Homemade, Tasty, Friendly.

What one thing you have learned from working at LPQ?

I have learned a lot about bread and coffee, which is great as I am a coffee lover. Also I work with the bakers a lot which gives me a lot of insight into their world.

Why would you recommend working at LPQ?

It is a comfortable place to work. You can really grow here. It is like a family. I like the story of the brand: Alain our founder, the story of the bowls, etc.  Not every day is perfect but at the end of the day, you feel like you have a family.

I also like the fact that we have the staff food. I know that other restaurants don’t offer its food to staff members, so it is plain pasta every day for them! Trust me, I truly appreciate the food LPQ gives us!

Also, as London is expensive, it is also good to have organic food once a day because it is costly to buy organic food here.

Where would you like to be this time next year?

I would love to be a manager here at Exhibition Road. I started from the bottom here just over a year ago and I have already grown so fast.  So who knows what’s next!
